"For the time being!" Taran burst out. "I think it will always be for the time being, and it will be vegetables and horseshoes all my life!"

"Tut," said Dalben,"There are worse things."

My Work

I must say, my work isn't nearly so irksome to me, as Taran's was to him. Thankfully, my jobs are all things I enjoy doing. Yes, jobs, plural. I have two part-time jobs right now, all within ten miles of my house, and I enjoy both of them. I'm the janitor of a small country church about a mile down the road, and I'm personal assistant to a sweet lady a bit further away - a whole 8 miles away. *mischievous grin* As you can see, my commute doesn't take up much of my time.

For the first job, then, as janitor at the church: It's a historical place in the grand metropolis of Driftwood (which consists of the church, post office and maybe five houses...don't blink, you'll miss it!). The Driftwood Methodist Church has been here for over a hundred years, and a lot of the old timers still go here. It's a very pretty little church, and I enjoy cleaning it. Other than that, what can I say? I'm just the janitor, after all....

My other job as "Personal Assistant", as I so loftily said, is for the absolutely sweetest lady imaginable. Her name is Sally. She's handicapped, but always has the best attitude, and hardly ever complains. She's such an ispiration to me. I work for her five days a week, feeding her quarter horse in the morning, and doing odd jobs around the house that she can't do herself. It's kind of funny, because working at Sally's is more like going to a favourite aunt's house than going to work.

That's about it, I suppose. I keep pretty busy, but I enjoy it a lot.
